Software Answers Supports
Race to the Top
Meeting the Instructional Improvement System (IIS) requirements for the Race to the Top (RttT) grant is a top priority for Software Answers. ProgressBook software is used in over 75% of Ohio public school districts and a significant number of Ohio charter community schools. This widespread acceptance positions us well to deliver necessary IIS components to Ohio’s educational community.
Through a combination of enhancements to current ProgressBook modules and by developing new modules, the complete suite of ProgressBook applications will meet IIS requirements – and more. And for schools not participating in Race to the Top, ProgressBook will provide optimum technology to support accelerated academic achievement.
Several tools necessary to meet RttT requirements are already available in ProgressBook modules, which include GradeBook, StudentInformation (DASL), SpecialServices, ParentAccess and DataMap (student data analysis) modules. Two additional modules are required to complete the IIS toolset:
- Virtual Classroom, a learning management system (LMS) currently in development.
- Business intelligence tool (BI).
Research and development is underway to ensure these modules are added to the ProgressBook suite prior to Ohio’s Race to the Top deadlines.
To provide schools with the best possible solution, one LMS requirement is for schools and districts to share curriculum, content and assessments with each other, build upon them, rate them and have curriculum align to standards. We are very excited about these capabilities and anticipate Virtual Classroom will exceed RttT requirements!
In addition, we continually move ProgressBook Suite toward an open architecture enabling districts to choose the best third-party solutions for their situation so the applications can integrate with the ProgressBook Suite. This integration strategy was highly praised by third-party vendors at a recent ProgressBook/DASL retreat.
We want our customers and potential customers to understand our absolute commitment to exceeding Race to the Top requirements within the timeline, so districts can confidently continue using – or commit to using the ProgressBook Suite as their school district solution.
