Race to the Top Requirements
States receiving federal grants from Race to the Top are rewarding school districts for implementing change that accelerates academic achievement. Each state has its own requirements. Meeting the data requirements for the Race to the Top (RttT) grant is a top priority for Software Answers.
Software Answers is developing a complete Instructional Improvement System (IIS) to support the U.S. Department of Education’s data systems requirement.
The U.S. DOE is asking states to advance education reforms around four specific areas:
- Adopting standards and assessments that prepare students to succeed in college and the workplace and to compete in the global economy;
- Building data systems that measure student growth and success, and inform teachers and principals about how they can improve instruction;
- Recruiting, developing, rewarding, and retaining effective teachers and principals, especially where they are needed most; and
- Turning around our lowest-achieving schools.
As a technology company, Software Answers is enhancing our ProgressBook applications and developing new ProgressBook modules to support reform number two. Many tools necessary to meet Race to the Top requirements are already available in ProgressBook modules, which include GradeBook, StudentInformation, SpecialServices, ParentAccess and DataMap (student data analysis) modules. Two additional modules are being developed: VirtualClassroom, a learning management system (LMS) and a business intelligence tool (BI). Research and development is underway to ensure these modules are added to the ProgressBook suite prior to Race to the Top deadlines.
As each state’s definition of data systems is unique, we invite you to contact us to learn how ProgressBook applications can help your school district meet Race to the Top requirements.
